Variation of Wind Power Plant Pitch Angle Setting to Short Circuit Fault Current Variations Level

Wind generation may use the huge power that the wind has to generate energy. A wind power plant has various advantages over other renewable energy sources when it comes to increasing output power. One of these involves changing the wind turbine’s pitch angle to increase the generator’s output power. Even the speed of wind is erratic, adjusting the pitch angle may help stabilise the generator’s output power. In the event of short circuit fault currents, this pitch angle setting may cause damage to the wind power plant that is connected to the electrical grid. This research sought to ascertain if variations in pitch angle and variations in the fault current of short circuit produced by a wind farm are related. , 10°, 20°, 30°, and 40°. Depending on the pitch angle values, the wind power plant produces different amounts of short circuit current. According to the simulation results, the maximum short circuit fault current was produced by the pitch angle value of 0 degree. At a pitch angle setting of 40 degree, the least short circuit fault current is produced. With decreasing pitch angle, the wind power plant produces more short circuit fault current.
