Analysis of Rotation Speed and Output Power Stability as a Result of Inertia Settings in Wind Turbines

A sort of renewable energy that is often utilized to generate electricity is wind power. Compared to other renewable energy, the components of wind power plants are simpler. A wind turbine, which transforms wind energy into mechanical energy, a gear, which transfers mechanical energy, and a generator, which transforms mechanical energy into electrical energy, make up the parts of a wind power plant. An inertia setting is included in each of these components’ links. The generator’s output power and rotating speed may both be impacted by the inertia setting. This study’s objective is to examine the effects of variations in the wind power plant’s inertia on output power and generator rotation speed. The inertia values used in the research approach are 0.1, 1, 2.5, 4, and 5. In order to assess the output power’s stability, the wind turbine is also controlled to produce dynamic loads. According to the study’s findings, the stability of the generator’s rotation speed and output power is affected differently by each degree of inertia. The wind power plant’s generator speed and output power will be more steady the more accurate the inertia value is. Wave fluctuations may be lessened in the stability of these parameters by a high degree of inertia.
