Novel Intelligent Calibration System for Automobile Engine Speed Measurement Based on Visual Recognition

In view of the problems of low efficiency and easy operation error of traditional manual calibration, a novel intelligent calibration system for automobile engine speed measuring instruments is developed based on machine vision and LabVIEW. The expected technical indicators and operating mechanism of the developed calibration system are proposed. On this basis, the construction of system hardware and software is specifically designed and realized. In particular, a visual recognition algorithm is designed to obtain the display value of the tested instrument in real time. The test results show that this system supports the calibration of various types of engine speed measuring instruments. It can realize automatic measurement within the calibration speed range of (500∼6000) r/min, and the calibration time can be shortened by nearly 70%.
