Current advances in SLAM robotic applications in agriculture and state of the art approaches

Simultaneous Localisation and and Mapping (SLAM) has emerged as one of the most studied problem in mobile robotics. Countless application were investigated.The objective of this research report is to provide a brief overview on existing advances of SLAM from the perspective of implementation on agriculture. As such, this research report will first present some current advances on agro- implementation of SLAM both in terms of aerial and ground mobile robotics. Subsequently, a review on the current applications and advances in current years that can be relevant to outdoor field SLAM were presented. This will be discussed with regards of the various types and categories of SLAM. It was Also found that researchers in this domain can utilise the various data sets that can be implemented without physical implementation of SLAM system thereby enabling researcher to focus on specific investigation areas that are worth investigating. Finally, some remarks on the future on this research domain were discussed.
