TLC strategy for power distribution grids

Recent evolutions in communication technologies have enabled the development of a smart, digital Grid that has the ability to monitor and manage the operating conditions and the performance of the electrical systems in real time, in order to ensure uninterrupted and continuous power supply service. The future reliable and self-healing digital Grid requires a high-performance data communication infrastructure that supports both existing functionalities and future operational requirements. Therefore, the design of a network architecture that exploits low-latency, highcapacity vectors is crucial to guarantee system performance. To this end, Enel Grids has worked out a strategy for the development of a telecommunications architecture serving digitized power networks, detailed in this paper.
