Design Methods of High-order Low Pass Filters

This paper is written to sum up the pros and cons of three different types of low-pass filters, which are Butterworth filter, Chebyshev filter and elliptic filter. The field of filters is connective to many fields, which contributes to its importance and particularity. To better analyze the issue, the author uses the method of searching information online and compare the different functions of these 3 types of filters. The resources are mainly searched from Baidu academic and Google Scholar. Butterworth filter has good amplitude and transient characteristics but its transition zone is too gentle; Chebyshev filter has flat stop-band but its transient characteristics are poor; the elliptic filters has fast and disordered attenuation but its so complex that it is hard to produce and achieve. According to different characteristics, there are different fields for applications. To conclude, the paper generally analyzes the objective and can be implicated in many fields in industrious production and eventually make a difference to people’s daily life.
