Design of 2.4 GHz LNA Using Microstrip Narrow Band Pass Filter

RF amplifier is a device that has vital effect on the all-round efficiency and operation of a communication system. LNA is the vital component in the front end of receiver chain. To improve the noise performance of the receiver, it is important to design LNA for optimum noise figure. In this paper, a 2.4 GHz single band LNA is designed using proposed novel input matching scheme. Input matching network is designed using narrow band pass filter with microstrip transmission lines. The design uses the transistor ATF-36077 HEMT device and RT-Duroid 5880 substrate. Simulation of the design is carried out in Advance Design System-ADS tool. The proposed design is unconditionally stable in the band of interest. It reports forward gain S21 of 10.923 dB and noise figure of 2.895 dB. The input return loss S11 and the output return loss S22 are observed as -19.260 dB and -18.155 dB respectively. The power consumption of the proposed circuit is 12mW, for the supply voltage of 1.5 V.
