Investigating the potential of renewable energy in the successful energy transition base on hydrology analysis

The use of fossil fuels occupies the first place of human needs for energy provided by nature, climate change, the extinction of rare animal species, droughts or successive floods are also problems caused by excessive consumption of fossil fuels. This situation requires us to be able to solve it through proper planning using energy modeling tools. This research aims to exploit existing resources to produce new energy sources amid the limitation of old energy sources by producing optimal energy with different sources. Hydrology analysis is carried out to predict the water discharge that will enter the next 5-10 years, with this we can engineer inbound water drainage to produce optimal water depletion and can produce environmentally friendly energy, water flow discharges in the river flow area loss reaches a figure of 6.58 $m^{3}$/sec, which with the flow can be used energy modeling tool such as Mini Hydro Power Plant. According to the results of this investigation, the potential for Pesanggrahan Watershed is more appropriate to be built type Mini Hydro Power Plant with a dependable flow has potential electricity of water power of 405,9 kWatt. And this energy modeling tool can meet the needs of the community energy and also reach Indonesia’s net zero emission (NZE) in the year 2060.
