Power System Dominant Oscillation Mode Analysis Based on Multivariate Empirical Mode Decomposition

The oscillation phenomenon of power system has always been one of the main factors threatening the stable and safe operation of power grid. If the oscillation phenomenon is not spontaneously subsided and cannot be suppressed in time, a series of safety accidents will be caused. In this paper, a dominant oscillation mode identification method of power system based on multivariate empirical mode decomposition is adopted. By introducing multivariate empirical mode decomposition, the synchronous decomposition of multi-channel measurement signals is realized, and multiple intrinsic mode functions corresponding to different oscillation modes are obtained. Secondly, the Teager energy operator is used to calculate the relative energy value of each eigenmode function, and the eigenmode function corresponding to the dominant oscillation mode concerned by oscillation identification is selected based on the relative energy weight. Finally, the proposed method is analyzed and verified by the simulation data of IEEE-68 node test system. The analysis results verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method.
