Mitigation of Voltage Sag, Swell, Interruption, and Harmonics using Custom Power Device for Improvement of Power Quality

This research study discusses about a setup where two feeder lines are connected to a point of common coupling (PCC) bus along with a Voltage source in fig. 1. Feeder line 2 incorporates a DVR and a three phase programmable voltage source to supply power to anon linear load, while feeder line 1 only has a resistive load. And feeder 2 is connected to non-linear load, power quality issues such as voltage sag, swell, Interruption and Harmonic generation achieved through three phase Programmable voltage source connected to feeder line 2. This study analyzes the effects of the voltage sag, swell, interruption and harmonic at the load side of feeder line 1and along with feeder line 2. By employing the DVR, power quality issues arising from voltage sag, swell, interruption and harmonic in the system can be mitigated by DVR. This utilization of a custom power device leads to an improved voltage profile and addresses the poor power quality of the system. The analysis also includes an assessment of the improvement in Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).
