A Three-Dimensional SBP-SAT FDTD Method for Complex Structures

The FDTD method has been widely used in practical applications. This method shows limitations when deal with multiscale structures. Although the subgridding techniques provide an efficient solution by locally refining meshes, stability issues appear during long-time simulations. This paper proposes a three SBP-SAT FDTD method for long-time stability, which employs staggered grids and few mesh changes. A cavity and an aircraft are simulated by the proposed method and the conventional FDTD method. Both computational resource consumption and accuracy of the proposed method are compared with the FDTD method.
