Real-Time Attention Monitoring Using Smart Wearable for ADHD Patients

Attention is a critical factor in productivity in the modern era, as the average human attention span has decreased to just 8 seconds, significantly impacting the brain's preparedness for action and task performance. Currently, there are no convenient systems available to inform individuals about their attention levels during tasks and aid in maintaining focus. This article underscores the paramount importance of attention in productivity, particularly in light of the decreasing attention span in the modern era. To address this challenge, the authors propose an innovative smart wearable headband prototype that integrates EEG and EOG sensors. This cutting-edge device allows for real-time monitoring of brain activity and eye movements during tasks, enabling the identification of subtle changes in alertness, attention, and perception. Moreover, the headband aims to diagnose neurological disorders such as ADHD, epilepsy, and sleep disorders by analyzing brain waves and eye movements. The integration of these sensors ensures precise and accurate measurements, offering considerable benefits for individuals with ADHD. Additionally, the prototype includes a user-friendly Android mobile application, providing a cost-effective self-monitoring tool as an alternative to expensive diagnostic equipment. By leveraging real-time data and reducing reliance on self-reporting, this pioneering wearable holds the potential to advance understanding of attention and significantly enhance performance across diverse domains.
