Planning and operation of hybrid local energy system through Ant-Lion optimization

In this recent times smart localized energy systems including cogeneration, renewable energy and battery energy storage is much appreciated for further research. This work focuses on optimal planning and operation of smart local energy system (LES) having combined heat and power (CHP), solar energy, and lithium-ion battery energy storage. The production from CHP and solar power are stochastic in nature thereby creating the requirement of energy storage to match the generation and demand. This work puts forward a novel intelligent algorithm called Ant lion optimization (ALO) based planning and operation of local energy system having cogeneration, solar power and lithium-ion battery energy storage. The proposed model is validated on University of Warwick (UoW) local energy system. Simulation results establish the efficacy of the proposed method.
