A new lateral semi-active control strategy for the railway vehicle with built-in bogies based on fully-actuated system approaches

Compared with the traditional railway vehicle with built-out bogies, the advantages of the railway vehicle with built-in bogies are lightweight with lower wheel rail force and stronger curve passing ability, etc. But it also has the downside of deterioration of lateral comfort. In order to improve the lateral vibration of the railway vehicle with built-in bogies, a new semi-active control strategy is proposed in this paper. Firstly, borrowing from fully-actuated system approaches, a robust controller with state feedback is designed to calculate the desired control force; then a state observer is designed based on the Kalman filtering principle, which is used to estimate the lateral vibration state of the car body; finally, a damping force controller is designed to calculate the command current to track the desired force. Simulation results indicate that, the root-mean-square values of lateral acceleration and lateral ride index of the car body are improved significantly with the proposed semi-active suspension. Therefore, this paper provides a new strategy for the lateral vibration control of the railway vehicle with built-in bogies.
