Optimal Control Strategy of Reactive Power and Voltage for Wind Farm Based on LinWPSO Algorithm

As wind farms grow in size, the traditional method of allocating reactive power capacity ratio for Doubly Fed Induction Generators (DFIGs) cannot ensure the economic and safe operation of wind farms. In this paper, a reactive power optimization control strategy for wind farms is proposed, which fully considers the internal topology of wind farms and takes into account the influence of the distribution of internal lines and electrical equipment parameters on the power flow. DFIGs are treated as continuously adjustable reactive power sources with the objective of reducing the losses in the collector lines and balancing the terminal voltage of the units. The Linear Decrement Weight Particle Swarm Optimization (LinWPSO) algorithm is used to solve the constructed reactive power optimization model and to achieve reasonable allocation of reactive power output for each unit. Finally, using an actual wind farm as an example, the reactive power output of each unit is calculated, and simulation results show that the proposed optimization control strategy can effectively improve the voltage distribution of the feeder lines, reduce system operating losses, enhance the wind turbine's ability to resist grid voltage disturbances, and help wind farms to operate economically, safely, and stably.
