Wideband Circularly Polarized Low Gain Turnstile Antenna for Cube-Sat Tracking Applications at UHF-Band

This work proposes a broadband circularly po-larized turnstile antenna for CubeSat tracking applications at the UHF band. Broadband performance of the antenna is achieved by coupling two sequentially rotated identical radiating elements and coupling between the downward bent legs of the radiating elements and the upward bent cross-shaped reflector. As a result, 33% impedance bandwidth is achieved along the frequency band 357 MHz to 500MHz. Furthermore, the proposed antenna also accomplishes 27% 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth along the frequency band 376 MHz to 495 MHz. Realized gain of the proposed structure is 4.5 dBic, and the cross-polarization level of 16 dB is achieved with the proposed structure.
