Dual-Polarized Split Beam Antenna for 28GHz Multi-Sector Indoor Base Station

A dual polarized two-branch MIMO is used for multi-sector antenna under indoor environments, and a base station antenna should provide identical radiation pattern for both polarizations. To increase the channel capacity, a split beam antenna is proposed for multisector antenna for 28GHz indoor base station of 5G system, instead of overlapped dual-polarized antenna. Radiation pattern is defined to keep the same EIRP and the channel capacity distribution is estimated. Under the indoor environment, the split beam provides the channel capacity higher than the overlapped beam.
