Shared Aperture Based Antenna in Package Incorporated with Connected Slot and Patch antenna

A shared aperture antenna (SAA) system consisting of patch and connected slot antenna array (CSAA) is presented. The antenna system covers the sub 6GHz and millimeter wave (mm-wave) bands. Coaxial probe fed patch antenna and corporate fed four element CSAA are designed in a package environment obtaining a bandwidth of 200 MHz and 0.77 GHz in the two bands respectively. The designed patch antenna has a far-field gain of 2.2 dB and the CSAA has a gain of 7.73 dB respectively.
