Power Quality Improvement of Solar PV System With Shunt Active Power Filter Using FS-MPC Method

In recent years, photovoltaic (PV) power generation has become one of the most significant renewable energy technologies. In the field of renewable energy sources, the usage of Active Power Filters (APFs) is a well-known growing approach. Passive filter usage is decreased due to its drawbacks. APFs deal with several harmonics at once. The goal is to serve as an interface inverter to inject real power produced by the solar PV system. Utilizing the PWM method, Shunt Active Power Filters (SAPFs) predictive control performance with two parallel connected inverters was better. The precedence finite set model predictive control (FS-MPC) having two parallel inverters in SAPF can be seen in comparative analyses of power losses of semiconductor, THD values, losses of dc-link capacitor along with statistical techniques are all taken into account. Using MATLAB/Simulink, the proposed system's simulated model was created. To assess the effectiveness of the suggested system with FS-MPC-based SAPF, analysis is done on the results of simulations. By minimizing the cost function, the implemented control was able to foresee the behavior of some control variables using the predefined mathematical model of the system and keeping similar to the required references.
