Analysis on Time-Space Distribution of Electromagnetic Loss for Aircraft Variable Frequency Generator

In this paper, the time-space-distribution of electromagnetic losse for variable frequency generators(VFGs) in more electric aircraft is calculated and analyzed. Electromagnetic loss include DC copper loss, AC copper loss and core loss, and it is calculated and analyzed for the distribution characteristics of a 30kVA VFG in the time dimension and space dimension respectively, by using the finite element analysis(FEA). The target of this study is to obtain the electromagnetic loss of the VFG in the whole cycle of the aircraft flight, namely, the time distribution, and the electromagnetic loss of each component of the VFG, namely, the space distribution. Based on that, it is meaningful to provide the basis for the study of heat distribution and cooling design of VFGs.
