A Dedicated Line-Based 5G-NR Dedicated Network Communication Between Unmanned Systems and Ground Stations

This article delves into the challenges and solutions of communication between unmanned systems (UMS) and ground stations (GS), with a specific focus on an in-depth exploration of the 5G-NR dedicated network dedicated line (DNDL) communication method within a heterogeneous network environment between Hengqin and Hong Kong. It highlights the need for rapid, reliable data transfer with minimal latency and stringent security protocols. To address these needs, the article presents the 5G-NR DNDL setup, which combines the advantages of both the public network integrated non-public network (PNI-NPN) and the stand-alone non-public network (SNPN) models. This setup ensures secure and reliable UMS data transfer, and facilitates secure and reliable data sharing and transmission across public networks. The article evaluates the performance of the 5G-NR DNDL in terms of data latency and security, revealing consistent system delays and satisfactory transmission rates. However, it also identifies potential areas for improvement in the configuration of the 5G-NR dedicated network base station and the hardware configuration of the unmanned system. The findings of this article contribute to the ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency, stability, and security of data transmission for UMS in industrial applications.
