Detection and Prevention of Fire Accident in Industries Using IoT

The recent trend in urban planning is the development of contemporary, safe, and sustainable smart industries. Some of the technologies that might be used in the development of smart industries are Internet of Things (IoT) and network virtualization. This research study has attempted to design and develop an Internet of Things and computer technology based fire alarm system. Most of the communities would benefit from the designed system since it overcomes the issues with existing fire alarm systems, such as capital costs and no distant warning. The proposed system includes root controller, several sensor nodes, ad hoc network and sensors for biogas, spark, temperature, pressure, smoke, and carbon monoxide (CO). Each sensing node is composed of a ESP8266-node MCU coupled with several types of sensors. These modules assist in monitoring the surroundings and spotting fire, wherein these nodes act as smart end nodes and as one of the distinguishing features of edge computing. The Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol is used for establishing a communication between the sensing node and central node, which is also used to receive readings from the nodes and transfer them to a central node controlled by a Raspberry Pi.
