Performance Analysis of IoT Mobile Edge Computing Networks Using a DF/AF UAV-Enabled Relay with Downlink NOMA

This work investigates a system for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)- mobile edge computing (MEC) in the Internet of Things (IoT) using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as a relay. We investigate a scenario in which an edge cluster of IoT devices (IDs) with limited resources is unable to compute their own tasks and must instead offload them to two MEC access points (APs) via the UAV relay (UR). As a result, we propose a five-phase procedure to ensure NOMA-based task offloading. We derive closed-form formulas for the successful computation probability (SCP) under the Rayleigh fading channel model to evaluate the system's efficacy. The numerical results show how major system parameters such as average transmit power, number of ID, and UR height affect the results. The Monte-Carlo simulation validated the precision of our investigation.
