Information and Communication Technologies in Smart Mobility : Exploratory study based on literature

Smart Mobility (SM) is one of the dimensions of Smart Cities, which goal is to improve the management of urban mobility, contributing to a better quality of life of their citizens. For this purpose, there are the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), being in the base of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). This paper aim to understand the concept of Smart Mobility and the role of ICT. It also analyzes the forthcoming means of transport that will determine the tendencies of mobility and consequently other ICT. This is an exploratory study based on literature that is supported in the database Scopus. The results are presented through bibliometric research, followed by a content analysis where the main technological solutions that provide support to SM are explored, as well as emergent means of transportation.
