The Outage Probability for MIMO Spatial-Multiplexing Systems in Correlated Channels with Receive Antenna Selection

Multiple input multiple-output (MIMO) technology is a promising approach that supports the high spectral efficiency required by the next-generation wireless communication system. This article presents the outage probability for MIMO spatialmultiplexing systems in correlated channels with receive antenna selection. In this work, we reduce the number of radio-frequency (RF) chains by using AS in correlated channels. Besides, we used chi-squared random variables to obtain closed-form outage probability expressions. Furthermore, we derive the closed-form on the outage probability with three antenna selection algorithms to increase the capacity. In our scheme, we assume that the receiver picks the best subset antenna for given Rr receive antennas that can guarantee capacity maximization. The receiver has access to the channel state information (CSI), while the transmitter does not. The simulation outcomes prove that our scheme is practical, accurate, and achieves higher performance than other antenna selection schemes.
