Experimental study on electrospray characteristics of viscoelastic dielectric liquids

An experimental study was carried out on the electrospray of viscoelastic dielectric liquids. 25# transformer oil is selected as the base liquid and polyisobutylene (PIB) is added to prepare viscoelastic fluid. Experimental results indicate that the spray characteristics of 25# transformer oil can be divided into the dripping mode, the mirco-drop mode and the mixed mode. Under the influence of elasticity, mircodrop mode is not observed for PIB solution, and the jet end in the mixed mode will not break and form droplets. In addition, it is found that the dripping frequency decreases first and then increases with the increase of voltage.
