Recent Advancements of Thermal Imaging in Induction Motor: A Review

This paper offers an overview of thermal imaging measurements used for electrical equipment diagnosis. These machines, regardless of design, are all susceptible to failure when faults occur. Thermal Image Processing Technique can detect failure at an early stage and significantly lower maintenance costs. Infrared cameras capture thermal images of machines in their normal and fault conditions for further analysis. Modern infrared map techniques make infrared mapping techniques ideal for quickly and non-exhaustively measuring devices which would otherwise not be accessible. Thermal imaging relies on the detection and interpretation of infrared radiation that emanates from bodies when temperatures surpass absolute zero, creating visible pictures.
