Abstract:

The focus of this study is to implement a modified TID controller known as the Integral Double Derivative minus Tilt Controller (IDD-T), which is designed to diminish the voltage and frequency aberrations of two-area system in coordinated manner. The IDD-T controller parameters are fine-tuned by an optimization algorithm known as Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO). The behavior of IDD-T controller, which was developed using HHO technique, is analyzed in the context of a two-area system, where control Area-1 houses reheat thermal-hydro-solar thermal and control Area-2 includes reheat thermal-hydro-wind turbines. The reheat thermal plants are equipped with pertinent system nonlinearities. The two areas are interconnected by AC tie-lines and HVDC links. The transcendence of the suggested IDD-T controller is corroborated by contrasting its attainment by other controllers for example, TID and ID-T. The supremacy of HHO algorithm is verified by other optimization methods. The repercussion of AVR module proclaims substantial betterment in system dynamics. The simulation outcomes evince that suggested IDD-T controller based on HHO indicates augment in system dynamics under various aspects such as variation in system loading conditions and alteration in magnitude and place of perturbation.
