Interference Compatibility Study between Air to Ground System and Satellite Fixed Service

Widely promoted as a proven solution, the Air to Ground (ATG) broadband communication system solves the problem that the data in the front compartment cannot be transmitted to the ground in real time and the general public users in the back compartment cannot experience high-speed Internet services. This paper first investigates the interference of ATG base stations operating at 3.5 GHz to Fixed Satellite Service (FSS) ground stations. Then, in the compatibility study, the protection distances of coexistence and adjacent frequency deployment scenarios are examined according to the deployment specifications of 5G base stations and satellite fixed services provided by ITU-R. According to the analysis, while coexistence of ATG systems and co-channel FSS systems requires more than 20 km, neighboring-frequency FSS systems require only a few kilometers of distance. Using this geographical separation can be used to deploy these two co-frequency systems will be compatible.
