A sideways-looking radar signal processing

As a mean to help a driver change lanes safely on the highway, a system capable of detecting other vehicles either behind or to the side of the driver's car is required to prevent collision with vehicles arriving from behind in neighboring lanes. The sideways-looking radar system is very useful, particularly when vehicles are travelling on a multi-lane highway. This paper presents an efficient, accurate and easy to implement system for a sideways-looking radar signal processing. The system is designed to work with a spread spectrum signal. Results on the measurement of the distance to and the velocity of a moving vehicle are presented.
