Efficiency enhancement of CIGS solar cell with C2N buffer layer: A simulation approach by SCAP-1D

The photovoltaic output characteristics of a single junction photovoltaic cell is optimized for CIGS absorber and C2N buffer material. The influence of absorber thickness and acceptor density is evaluated using SCAPS-ID software to understand the photovoltaic cell performance. Further to collect the maximum number of charge carriers at the metal contact from window layer we have optimize the work function of front and rear electrodes. The optimized photovoltaic cell attained a highest power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 26.17 % ($V_{oc}=0.8069, J_{sc}=37.67$ ma/cm² and $FF=86.07\%$) that shows promising low-cost solar energy harvesting. Outcomes of proposed solar cell will specify the way for fabricating highly efficient photovoltaic cell.
