Comparison of AC Common-Mode Filter Topologies through SPICE Simulations

AC-side common-mode filters are adopted to both reduce common-mode noise propagated and protect windings of electric motors from fast switching edges. Different topologies are available and evaluating which is the best for each case is not always straightforward. This paper proposes a simple SPICE model for this purpose and uses it to derive some considerations on filter effectiveness.
