An Analysis of the Application of the “VROT-18 System” for Increasing the Power Quality and Energy Efficiency of the Low-voltage Distribution Network

The low-voltage distribution transformer “VROT -18 system” represents a recent technological solution in distribution networks, the installation of which solves the problem of the so-called “gray zones”. “Gray zones” is the term used to describe the area in which the power quality at the user's supply terminal does not comply with specifications of the standard EN 50160. In this paper, the use cases of the “VROT -18 system” in single-phase and three-phase connections in the low-voltage distribution network are analyzed with aim of improving the voltage conditions and resolving the “gray zones” effects. The analyzes show a number of advantages of the application of the “VROT-18 system” compared to previous methods for improving the power quality and energy efficiency of the low-voltage distribution network.
