Adopting IoT Solutions for the Functionality, Protection and Resilience of Critical Infrastructures

The Internet of Things and critical infrastructures are two concepts that play a particularly important role in providing essential goods and services to society. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the importance of adopting the solutions offered by the Internet of Things for the functionality, protection and resilience of critical infrastructures. The research methodology consists in elaborating a structural analysis, using as a tool the method of matrix-based multiplication applied to a classification, in order to identify the main variables that contribute to the efficient adoption of solutions and determine the influence and dependence relations between them. The research results confirm the need and importance of adopting Internet of Things solutions for critical infrastructures, taking into account the identified variables. The implications and future lines of research are also mentioned in this paper.
