WSAN Emerging Technology for IoT

Sensor networking and sensor design technology have witnessed rapid growth in the last few decades. The world is going forward in the direction of automation and efforts are being made to reduce human intervention in every field. Sensor technology along with active devices and other smart algorithms has given rise to Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks (WSANs). Sensors monitor the physical parameters in any environment in which they are deployed or installed and actuators collect the sensing data, process the data and subsequently perform required actions without any need for a central controller. WSAN is an advanced version where users can sense and control. It is smarter than Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). Both features of sense and control find their uses in a wide variety of applications. This paper elucidates complete architecture, boon and bane along with applications of WSAN technology. Presented article highlights recent developments in the field of WSAN and delineate the subsequent challenges.
