Maize Leaf Diseases Classification using a Deep Learning Algorithm

In India’s economy, agriculture is essential. Early detection of plant diseases is crucial to preventing crop loss and further disease transmission. The traditional method is to physically inspect the plant leaf to identify the type of disease, as done by farmers or plant pathologists. A CNN algorithm has been used to increase the detection precision of maize leaf diseases namely VGG16, VGG19, Inception V3 and EfficientNetB7. Among them, the EfficientNetB7 model performs with the greatest level of accuracy 98.77%. This assures the model’s high level of accuracy for maize leaf diseases and may help improve crop output.
