Low Profile Miniaturized Wideband Antenna For mmW Applications

This research work aims to design a Microstrip Patch Antenna(MPA) with improved bandwidth for millimeter wave (mmW) applications. Due to its low dielectric loss, a relatively thin Rogers RT/Duroid 6002, with a dielectric constant of 2.94 and a height of 0.76 mm, is used as the substrate. To further enhance the overall antenna performance, parasitic patches, slots, and defected ground structures (DGS) have been used. The proposed antenna is found to attain an overall gain and directivity of 4.6 and 6.5 dB after employing all of these modifications, as well as a return loss, S11 of -23.20 dB and VSWR of 1.12. Ansys High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) software is used for designing and simulation purpose.
