Sum Secrecy Rate Maximization for Control Jamming assisted STAR-RIS Wireless Network

This paper investigates the sum secrecy rate (SSR) of control-jammer (CJ) enabled simultaneously transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS) aided network. Now-a-days, one of the most serious issues in communication networks is information leakage. To address this issue, we attempt to accomplish SSR maximization of the network by implementation of a CJ enabled STAR-RIS network to avoid eavesdropping impact. The SSR of the considered network is examined under different jamming schemes, including without jamming (WJ), jamming (J) and control jamming (CJ). By optimizing the amplitude coefficient and the phase response of the STAR-RIS elements with an alternating algorithm, SSR can be enhanced further. Simulation results illustrate that, 1) STAR-RISs can significantly improve system performance compared to traditional RISs (RIS); 2) the suggested algorithm achieves higher SSR and 3) jamming schemes are adequate to ensure security and privacy of the network.
