Virtual simulation comparison of different fabric draped skirts based on Style 3D

The main objective of this study is to explore the virtual simulation capabilities of a 3D CAD system for clothing, using the Style 3D system as an example to compare the integration of real and virtual garment production. Different clusters of drapability fabrics were used to test each fabric parameter affecting the drapability of garments in the Style 3D system and to perform 3D simulations of draped wave skirts. The virtual simulation of each fabric cluster is compared with the actual picture of the garment to compare the similarity of the virtual garment to the real garment. The study confirms that the virtual simulation of the draped skirt in the Style 3D system is more realistic with the application of different fabric parameters and that, in practice, the 3D virtual simulation of the design of the draped fabric according to the different fabric clusters can simplify the process and is operational, suggesting recognition of the importance of fabric clusters.
