Modeling of a complex waveguide transducer

The interest in MM-wave range scanning antennas that are based on the travelling wave principle is rapidly growing as communication systems can have many advantages in this range. An antenna of such a type, the integrated phased array (IPA), is able to scan electrically. A three-layer ferrite-dielectric waveguide (FDW) is the basis of such an antenna. For the calculation of a novel MM-wave IPA input unit, a theoretical model of a complex waveguide transducer is presented. This model calculates all the necessary scattering and transmission characteristics of a transducer. The model is universal to a substantial degree and allows the calculation of the parameters of different transducers based on different rectangular waveguides.
