Performance Enhancement of WDM-RoFSO Communication System under Different Weather Conditions

This paper examines the performance of a communication system called wavelength division multiplexing-based radio over free space optics (WDM-RoFSO) by using OptiSystem 20.0 software. The system uses a high bit rate of 160 Gbps to carry data on an optical signal. The study has been evaluated in three different weather conditions: clear, haze, and fog, each with varying levels of attenuation losses. The simulation results demonstrate that Multiple beam techniques can reduce the Bit Error Rate (BER) for different ranges, resulting in accurate transmission of data at the receiver. The study shows that an increasing number of beams in WDM-RoFSO systems perform better in terms of received power levels, BER, Q-factor, and connection distance range, even in challenging atmospheric turbulence situations like haze, fog, and clear sky.
