Design and Economic Analysis of a Stand-alone microgrid system using Dandelion Optimizer - A rural case in Southwest Morocco

The purpose of this paper is to present an optimization model designed to identify the ideal size for a standalone hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) that can effectively meet the energy requirements of a rural community located in Southwest Morocco while maximizing profitability. The HRES, which is composed of Photovoltaic (PV) panels, Wind Turbines (WTs), Hydrogen Tanks (HTs), Electrolyzer units, and a Fuel Cell (FC) system, will be designed to maximize profitability. The efficiency of DO is assessed in this study and is compared to commonly used optimization methods such as Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The findings reveal that DO has better convergence properties than GA and PSO and can generate optimal solutions in a relatively short amount of time. Our research provides a more sustainable and eco-friendly system for electrification and can serve as a valuable reference for investment in areas of Southwest Morocco where electricity is scarce.
