An Upward Routing Method with Adaptive Transmission Power Control in Wi-SUN FAN

Recently, there has been a growing demand for the Internet of Things (IoT), which connects all types of devices to the Internet via wireless communications. Wireless Smart Ubiquitous Network Field Area Network (Wi-SUN FAN), a wireless communication standard for the IoT oriented to outdoor infrastructure, is attracting attention. Internet Protocol Version 6, routing protocol for Low-power and Lossy Networks (RPL) is adopted as a routing protocol in Wi-SUN FAN. In RPL, each node autonomously selects a parent node based on the network status and sends data to a root node (border router) via multi-hop communication. To reduce power consumption without degrading connectivity, it is necessary for nodes to adaptively control the transmission power based on the communication environment.
