EEG-Assisted EMG-Controlled Wheelchair for Improved Mobility of Paresis Patients

A motorised wheelchair is a type of mobility aid that helps people with physical limitations get around independently. Historically, powered wheelchairs have been operated by joysticks, switches, or other input devices that require the user to operate physically. To promote mobility and freedom for those unable to use conventional wheelchair control methods, this research aims to develop an electroencephalogram (EEG) assisted electromyography (EMG) controlled wheelchair. The major scope of this research is divided into two sections: gesture controller (signal processing) and automated wheelchair design. The proposed system was evaluated using human test participants under approved ethical standards. The accuracy of the proposed system was achieved at 88% with a weighted average precision of 0.89.
