Green Hydrogen in India- Applications, Opportunities and Challenges

Human lifestyle persistently revolves around newly advanced technologies, which results in an increase in demand for energy with time. As we know fossil fuels are depleting gradually, so the world is moving towards renewable energy sources to meet their increasing energy demand. In the present scenario, clean energy sources are boosting up because it reduces greenhouse gas emissions from the environment. Therefore, the world is focusing on new emerging technology that is hydrogen which uses renewable energy sources in production. India is amongst the largest renewable energy producer in the world, so focussing on hydrogen development likewise other countries around the globe. This paper aims to review opportunities, and applications of green hydrogen in various sectors and also an overview of the roadmap for India up to 2050 for achieving the National Hydrogen Mission. The industry’s shift to green hydrogen seems to be a near-term prospect with the beginning of India’s mission for hydrogen. In this paper, there is also a discussion on challenges in the adoption and harnessing of Green Hydrogen.
