A WPT System Applied to Space Solar Arrays MPPT/Constant Voltage Mode Control Strategy

The conductive slip ring is generally used for energy and information transmission between the solar array of a space vehicle and the main body of the vehicle. Since the solar array needs to be oriented to the sun to ensure maximum irradiation, the slide of the conductive slip ring is continuously in a relative rotation, and this contact rotation will lead to wear of the conductive slip ring and negatively impact the steadiness of the power supply system. The utilization of magnetic resonance wireless power transfer technology for energy transfer in this scenario has a good application prospect and has attracted wide attention. In order to realize the WPT system to switch smoothly between MPPT mode and constant voltage output mode of the solar array, a control strategy that is based on a competitive meritocracy of modes is suggested. Firstly, according to the application scenario of space solar array, the WPT power topology architecture is designed, and the relationship between the output power of Boost circuit and control variable D and the output power of LCC-S compensated WPT circuit and control variable θ is analyzed respectively; Then design a smooth switching strategy between MPPT/constant voltage output modes based on the relationship between output power and control variables. In conclusion, a physical simulation model is developed in SIMULINK to simulate and validate the proposed control strategy, with the results demonstrating its feasibility and capability to achieve adaptive and smooth mode switching.
