Strategies to Overcome Information Overload in the Workplace: A Systematic Literature Review

Information overload is often defined as an excessive amount of information. Most people encounter information overload every day, regardless of their age, profession, or social status. Nowadays, massive amounts of digital information are always easily accessible. While this first appears to be a huge benefit, it also causes feelings of overload, confusion, and trouble in decision-making. The purpose of this literature review was to understand the phenomenon of information overload, the implications of information overload on knowledge workers, and different strategies proposed within the past twenty years in order to see how relevant the topic is to today’s context.
