Selection of DC-DC Converters for PV-Battery based Hybrid Systems

This topology has the potential to provide a small ripple at the output voltage, quick responses to variations in load, and high efficiencies under conditions of high load current. MATLAB is used to simulate both boost converters with buck boost converters (BBBC) and SEPIC converters with buck boost converters(SBBC). In this study, the performance of BBB converters and SBB converters was compared. The output waveform is used in the calculation of the ripple factors. When compared to normal boost with buck boost converters, the performance of SEPIC with buck boost converters is significantly better. Ripples are present in large amounts in a buck with buck boost converter. This ripple has the potential to generate harmonics, and the elimination of these harmonics typically requires the utilization of a sizable capacitor or an LC filter.
