Evaluation of Questionnaires for Measuring The Learning Outcomes of Educational Activities

In educational activities, it is important to measure what students have gained from attending such activities. Various methods of measurement, such as reports and tests, are possible. In this study, “Evaluation of class questionnaires,” which was answered by university students who attend the classes, was used in the analysis. The assessment of classes was conducted using a 5-point scale and can be broadly classified into two categories: questions about “the students' own efforts” and questions related to “the outcome of the class.” The findings indicated that for the questions enquiring about the students' own efforts, in terms of study time outside class, it is beneficial to split the 5-point scale into two values. Treating the 5-point scale as a binary value, with one value representing response option 5, and the other value representing response options as 4 to 1, rather than simply 5 points, was more predictive of the students' intentions in the subsequent analysis.
