A New Concept High-Performance Large-Scale AC Drive System: Cross Current type Cycloconverter Fed Induction Motor with High-Performance Digital Vector Control

Because of advances in electronics and control technologies, the AC variable-speed motor drive system is being used in an ever-broadening range of applications. In particular, it being used increasingly for rolling mill main drive where use of vector control greatly improves quality and performance, and lowers energy consumption and maintenance costs. Making use of the latest techniques, we have successfully developed a "cross current type cyclo- converter fed squirrel cage induction motor drive system" which far exceeds the DC drive system cover a wide range from zero speed to high speed. It is best suited for tandem cold mill main drives and various other largescale rolling mills.
